BLACKOUT SHADES
There are some circumstances in which true blackout shades are required. Usually an opaque fabric-one that does not permit light to pass through the shade itself-provides enough darkening for ordinary purposes. However, light does enter the room around the edges, which is not always acceptable. In your home theater or your corporate boardroom, for instance, you may want to eliminate the entrance of all light.
Both roller shades and cellular shades offer a selection of fabrics that are opaque, and both are available with a side-track system that eliminates the light leaks from the edges. Sometimes the side tracks can be built right into the window trim so they are virtually invisible.
